The Leaning Tower of Pisa
Buildings in Tuscany picture - The Leaning Tower was begun in 1173 but before it was completed, it began to dangerously tilt which interrupted the building from proceeding for almost a century. Simone attempted to correct the tilt in 1275 by adding the last three stories in the oposite direction - it didn't help or stop the tilt. Betweem 1350 and 1372, Tommaso Pisano added the bell chamber at the top. The Tower had recently been closed for quite a few years as experts the world over attempted to cure the tilting. There was still a belt around it while we were there. However, the Tower is now open to visitors.
