Sapulpa Okla homa Court House 2002

I went to Sapulpa Oklahoma Courthouse on Feburay 11 2002 while my husband was there for jury duty and took pictures of the pretty spiral staircase and lobby and outside and the area around the courthouse.

My husband on jury duty again, so we went back to the court house 11 months later, will be adding my new pictures. Last year I forgot to take pictures out of the windows, since it was 3 stories high, wonder what the picture look like. So today I got my pictures out the window, and more inside. Yes - the architect Solomon Layton also designed the Skirven and the state capitol and a hundred or so other Oklahoma buildings.

This is good that the pictures are similar to the Carter Co. Courthouse. I have been researching Layton's works so that is good to know. Both this courthouse and the one in Ardmore were designed by Layton.

I used to trail my dad when he filed reports at the county school supt's office in this old building. Later I was able to obtain a belt buckle that had been fashioned after an old door knob which was the Creek County seal--very neat! I believe that the architect of this court house was also the same as our state capitol, Skirvin Hotel in OKC--Solomon Layton?????
