Monument to Victor Emmanuel
Sightseeing in Rome picture - This monument is sometimes called "the wedding cake" or, unaffectionately, "The typewriter". It is massive. Victor Emmanuel, Italy's first king, united Italy in 1870. This monument suffered much ridicule as it was said to be "architecturally insensitive". Oh well, what do I know: I think it's pretty nifty! The horse at the forefront is said to be large enough for a banquet to be held inside.
