The city of El Paso isn't exactly a hot attraction. In terms of ranking among top US vacation picks, it might make the top 50. Overall in pretty poor condition, with lots of lovely views across the Rio-not-so-Grande river to the dusty shacks of Juarez, I didn't expect much from the El Paso Zoo. But what I found really surprised me. It's really taken care of each individual animal, and the zoo is shady and attractive, with lots of great landscaping, both tropical and native desert.
