World War II was the most important event of the 20th Century, and June 6, 1944 was probably the single most important day of those one hundred years.
D-Day saw the largest concentration of armed force the world has seen or will ever see, as thousands of ships delivered hundreds of thousands of Allied troops across the English Channel and on to the coast of France. The invasion of Europe marked the beginning of the end of the German Third Reich, arguably the most evil empire of the Century, maybe of all time.
