Amalienhaven is one of the best known wharves here, since it leads from Amalienborg square with its guard exchanges at the Royal Palaces towards The Little Mermaid (Den Lille Havfrue).
Langelinie, where is The Little Mermaid, is a continuation of Amalienhaven and Toldbodgade wharves. But to be honest, the place is quite just a tourist trap. I think the walk from Amalienhaven to Langelinie would be the same – very relaxing – even without The Little Mermaid. Anyway – I understand the statue is a symbol of the city. Besides that, you can observe a lot of lovely great sailing ships cruising and anchoring around.
Nyhavn (New Haven) is, despite of its name, the place with (I guess) the oldest houses in Copenhagen. And it is the most crowded place in Copenhagen, with lot of tourists walking around and sitting in bars and pubs in its N row of houses. Although crowded, the place is very nice really.
From Nyhaven, you can take a guided boat tour throughout Copenhagen channels and straits. I saw a lot of interesting places there, but it was my trip logistics what failed: right when I sat into the boat at Nyhaven to have a tour, all my camera batteries went off and I could not take any picture. Maybe the next time...
My pictures were taken on the first Saturday afternoon of July 2004. Then, the weather was between cloudy and quite sunny. So enjoy it!
