After arriving in Cusco from Lima by plane, much faster than the three day buss ride,we found a room at the local convent. I arranged for train transport to Machu Picchu for the next day and then we went out for the evening to study the local sourrindings. In the morning we caught the train for a four hour ride to Machu Picchu, it took four hours even though it is only about 120 kilometers away (72 miles).
