Cross - Country skiing in the Foothills, in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. West of Bragg Creek (75 kilometres west of Calgary) begin the Foothills of Kananaskis Country and the Rockies. This is an area of gently rolling hills with rugged sandstone ridges, open meadows and pine forest.

Then further west are open meadows in the higher elevation.
