In October Kayla and I headed down to Okinawa for a long weekend of autumn sunshine. Having been advised by various guidebooks to forego the main island of Okinawa, we flew even further South to the Yaeyama islands. Based on the main island of Ishigaki, we intended to island hop to the nearby beaches and coral reefs. Sadly, Typhoon Tokage had other ideas and we were forced to come home 2 days early to avoid the worst of the storms. Despite that, we had a wonderful time in a very quiet, unspoiled and unique part of Japan.
