<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> The 260-year-old Romanesque aqueduct<br> Sightseeing in Guanajuato picture - is the most prominent landmark &#38; best known symbol of Queretaro (kay-RET-aro). Built between 1726 and 1738 of local sandstone, it was one of the most ambitious hydraulic projects of the colonial era in Mexico. The aqueduct brings clear spring water to the city from a source in the mountains five miles away. The water first goes through a tunnel before it makes its triumphal entry into Queretaro over the 74 towering arches of the 1.3km-long aqueduct - quite an imposing sight. Today, the ancient aqueduct runs through the center of one of the city&#39;s main thoroughfares, with intersections that lace through its high arches, the highest of which soars some 75 feet above the current-day street level. </div></nolayer></noembed>
