<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> Lindos Views<br> Sightseeing in Rhodes picture - Lindos was founded by the Dorian Greeks who arrived approximately 10th Century BC and became a major trading center by the 8th Century BC. In classical times, the Acropolis of Lindos was dominated by the massive temple of Athena Lindia, which attained its final form in 300 BC and which was later maintained by the Knights of St. John to defend the island against the Ottomans. On the Acropolis of Lindos today the temple of Athena Lindian still stands along with the Propylaea of the Sanctuary, a table of offerings at the base of the temple. According to the historical findings, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the origin and significant development of this civilization. The remains preserved over the years are proof of their advanced intellect relating to political, economic and architectural influence, which is evident even today. </div></nolayer></noembed>
