Kilimanjaro Climb

During September 2001 I travelled to Tanzania to attempt to climb Kilimanjaro. After five days (and one night) of trekking I made it to the summit. Here are the photos to prove it.

I booked the trip with a UK company called Exodus (http://www.exodus.co.uk/). The trek up to the summit was overnight so it was cold while we were walking. However by the time we reached the summit the sun had been out for an hour or so and the day was beginning to warm up. One thing I didn't have and would have been useful was a trekking pole. One of my fellow travellers had two and, although he was struggling a bit himself, he was kind enough to lend me one for the last stretch up to the crater rim. I don't think I would have reached the top without it.

I'm planning to go to Kilimanjaro in the end of September. I would like to hear more about your trip. Was it cold when you reached the top? Which tour company did you use? Anything that you wished you had brought along but didn't?
