This country is blessed with bounty-its land, waters, natural resources and rich history and culture. pls. continue to post new pictures and can you also show the other beautiful places all over the country. — Sara, October 16, 2010
Dear Sara
Thank you for your feedback. The reason I haven't added any photos in a long time is because I'm busy working on the website 'ShowcaseIRAN.com', which when it will be launched, will be featuring a whole lot more albums with many more fantastic images. I won't reveal at this point some of the other features ShowcaseIRAN.com will have, but it's a big project though, and I'm in it all by myself for the time being, so that's why it's taking so long. Meanwhile, I will add some new photos to this album when I find some time.
— ShowcaseIRAN, October 4, 2010
Hi. Thanks for all these beautiful photos. however it has been a while that you haven't add any new photos. could you please add more photos. Thanks.

I was amazed by what I could see, hear, understand, this beautiful country with legendary hospitality. Iran is a country of dream and heart. I am very proud to know not only Tehran (mega city in Iran), but also Kashan (a city of culture), Qom (Holy City) and Isfahan (historic). All these cities are beautiful with a people friendly and dynamic. God bless the Iranians

Hi,as an Iranian living abroad,I really enjoyed watching Tehran photos in your website. The majority of sites only has photographs of south Tehran, narrow and crowded areas that are very disappointing.I appreciate your taste and thank you.Best Regards

GREAT COUNTRY AND CITY
I was there 3 years ago at an international theater festival. This city is beautiful, people are very friendly and a lot of people speaks english. The truth is that almost nothing that we see and hear from thia country is not true. The negativ campian against this country is because of the oil. They are rich not only in money but in their soul to.The biggest surprise was that this so called fundamental country has 40% nonbelivers and almost 2 million christians and nobody has a problem with that. They have their nationalists but wich country does not have that.Greetings from Romania...GO GO TEHERAN,IRAN

Thank you Mehrzad
I'm happy too that this album now once again has a top ranking in google. I will be posting new pictures in the near future. It should be sufficient for you to type "Tehran" in google, instead of "Teheran - Mega Capital Iran". If for some unforseen reason you should have problem finding the albums in the future, you can always try typing "Showcase Iran" in google. Thank you and best regards. - Shahram
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), August 12, 2009
I am so happy that this site is up again and is the first hint in the google. It's been several months that I was typing "Tehran Mega capital of Iran" in the google but instead this site some other uninteresting sites was up and we couldn't find this site. Today I typed the same subject and I sawthis site as first hint in the google. I am very happy about that. Please keep this site the first hint in the google for ever and please post more beautiful pictures as well. Thanks for all your help that you have done to introduce a nice face of our country to the world. Good Job.
— Mehrzad, August 12, 2009
Thank you Shahram, this site is awesome. I know you must have put in a lot of hard work just to collect all these pictures and then put them up on the site.. I am planning to make a trip to Tehran in this July and after seeing what Tehran actually is from your pics i cant just wait for July to come. Thank you once again. God Bless U.
— Kaizan Irani, April 11, 2009
Thank you dear Shahram for this wonderful collection. As a film/media major from Canada, I'm sick and tired of seeing the stereotypical images of bazzar, mosques and other mediaval images of Iran (such as people smoking hukka in tea-houses) in every BBC and CNN documentary. Those images are used to lump up the whole middle eastern nations from Morroco (west Africa) to Iran (centrtal Asia) Peoples stuck in the middle ages. Your collection chalenges such disingenuous views of our nation. It shows that there's more to Iran than carpet shops, mosques and tea houses!

Thanx again, Farzad

To Amir
Is it possible that you haven't quite understood that this is a so called travel article? It is - and since you insist on posting your links here, I suggest that you turn to one of the many websites that belong to groups like the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MKO/MEK) I'm sure you're familiar with them. They would appreciate your posts and links - I don't! There is a time and place for everything. This is not the place for your sort of thing. It's a travel article which shows the good and beautiful side of Iran.

The progress shows Iranians’(Aryans) will, determination & resilience to fight back and build in adverse conditions, & remain hopeful. Deeper team spirit, more trust & effective cooperation are needed to speed the progress for Iran to become a jewel of civilization, creativity and stability in the world again. The Aryan culture has shown repeatedly in its 8,000 years of rich & civilized history how strong, yet clement, it has been to absorb & combat adverse and negative pressures. Iranians, as a single nation, have contributed so much to humanity in medicine, mathematics, physics, chemistry, agriculture, astronomy, arts/ literature, government, administration, finance, communication, philosophy, music and space over the eons. A cooperative and synchronized social drive is the key to remove obstacles to instill nation's great qualities & energize the world towards global peace, harmony and tranquility.

A person named Amir has given here political comments and slogans (such as death to this and that). Please note that this site is not a political site. You may take your comments to other political chat-sites etc. We all might be against this and that party or government, but this is not a place to present any political comment. Keep this site clean from sick and radical political slogans.

I love you Iran,
Thank you very much for giving us a chance to see some parts of our motherland, Iran.
— Shohreh, February 3, 2009
I am proud of all our iranian architects, who have changed the shape, size, and footprint of this wonderful complex city to a beutiful landmark of the Middle East. The pictures capture the heartbeat of this city...

No links to political sites please!
A person using the name armin43 has been posting links to political sites here. I keep deleting them, and he keeps reposting them. Links leading to political websites are not allowed. Mr. armin43, I don't know what you're problem is. This is not a political site, and if you insist on showing women in black chadors, poverty, crime, etc, then start your own album for haven's sake! Why force your opinion on others? Start your own album, and call it "Ugly Tehran" or something of the sort. Judging from your erratic behaviour I think it is rather you who have problems with complexes! I have consulted the management of WIR about you, and I think they can ban your ip address if you continue with your childish nonsense! The misfortune of Iran is that it has had too many of your kind in its midst throughout its history!

— joannna, December 27, 2008
I wish I had time to help you for setting up your new sites, but unfortunately I have a very busy schedule as a college student. I just wanna one more time thank you for all those hard/good/valuable work that you have done in the past & u will do in the future. Iran had one Ferdosi to take Iran/Farsi back from arabs. Now I see u & other childern of Iran do the same thing as Ferdosi did. Thanks alot for all these efforts. God bless you. Keep going & don't give up. We are proud of you.
— Sara, December 21, 2008
Thanks alot for taking time to write me. I see your point. Ok. I was going to ask you please make another beautiful site about whole Iran's cities, now I see that you have this idea yourself. Please keep showing the beautiful face of Iran. Although I cann't speak farsi very well since I grown up in the states and my parents migrated to US when I was 3 years old, but I have heard alot about Iran from my parents. during my school I have been asked several times that do we have fax or oven or other ordinary things in Iran?!! Those stupid questions shook me becuse some of those questions were not from my classmates, it was from Univ., professors. The only thing that they know about Iran is poor people, women with black chador and other negative things that I am assure u know better than me.
— Sara, December 21, 2008
To Sara
Dear Sara - I'm really glad that you and your friends like the albums. I try to keep the best pictures online permanently, but I have to be selective and make room for new pictures. As they say: "less is more", too much can cause a lot of nice pictures to "drown" and thus never be viewed by many people. But I don't anticipate deducting from the albums much more than this. I will upload some new pictures in the near future. But I won't have that much time to upload on a regular basis since I'm working on a big project that takes up a lot of my time. You can read about it below in the coninuation of this statement.
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), December 7, 2008
To Sara
Continued: I don't have that much time to upload a lot of new pictures at the moment, as I am in the process of setting up my own website which will feature Iran pictures, hopefully streaming Iranian music and much more. The name of the website will be ShowcaseIRAN.com, and if all goes well it will be launched by the Persian New Year 2009. It's going to be a very big project, and it will involve a lot of work. What I might have to do is to launch a smaller version of the website, and then build upon it gradually. Any help from interested volounteers would be greatly appreciated. The new website will include the best of photos of Iran, including a whole bunch of wonderful photos that I have not posted yet, numerous new album themes, such as "The Crown Jewels of Iran" and "Notable Iranian Men & Women", the best Iran-related videos, and the best Iranian music, and more. The World is Round albums will continue to exist. Thank you for your interest and concern.
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), December 7, 2008
Please update your site occasionally by adding more photos. That would be very helpful for introducing Iran to People of the world. Most of people specially in America and Europe have a very negative view about Iran because of too many propaganda that they have seen & heard for about 30 years. Thanks for all works that you have done & we are waiting to see more photos in the short future. Again I like to remind you that please do not remove the photos that you have now. please just keep adding photos to it, because many people see your site for the first time and have no idea about what other pictures you had in the past in your website. Thanks for your attention.
— Sara, December 7, 2008
Thanks for your efforts to put all these photos from beautiful Tehran. But I saw several more beautiful pictures in your link few mounths ago which I don't see it here any more. You had over 600 photos in the past but you sharank it to 330 now. Could you please go ahead and put some of those beautiful pictures back in your site. I & My American friends would be very appreciated if you let us see more pictures. Thanks alot for your kindness. Please never remove this site and keep adding more pictures from the north and high level side of Tehran.
— Sara, December 7, 2008

I should have added from by last comment. Are there any Travel tapes of Tehran showing the people, streets, cafe's, restaurants of Tehran ? I live in Chicago. I am trying to learn some basic Farsi from a set of CD's lent to me.

Thank you, now I know where I am heading to. Next week I leave to Tehran for a couple of days. Although it is a business trip I hope our partners will show us the city and I will know your culture on my own. From these pictures I feel (sorry to say so) normal and happy life. Its so different from those TV news etc. And the city itself looks to be amazing, so beautiful scenery with mountains in the back... I hope I will have only good memories on this trip;-)

The time has come! I left Iran in 1980 after the revolution and since then i have visited iran two times once for a month and second time for three month i love iran passionatly and i realized everytime i come back i want to stay longer but unfortunatly no matter how beautiful iran is from inside the reality is that the country is still.............................,other than that your pictures are great.:)

Dear Serdar; Istanbul or Constantinople as it used to be called, is indeed a beautiful city, and I agree that it's more beautiful than Tehran, and with so much history, dating back long before the Turks took it in 1453 AD. What I love about Tehran are the majestic snowcapped mountains and the small and big streams of water from the melting snow that flow on both sides of streets, alleys and avenues, called "Joub".

Beautiful Iran
I must admit, that Iran is one of the few countries with so much places and sigts to see, it is one of few countries with different climate hot, moderate and cold, Very ancient, The only problem I could see is food not much variety, Eventhough Iranian kitchen is well known at least here in middle east, I have visted Iran twice and I am plaaning this year, Isfahan and Kashan has encouraged me, Please take care of the Zayand rood river, never let it dry please.

Amazing
What an amazing, wonderful and beautiful journey you have given me. I am American and well-traveled and yet, I know so little about modern day Iran(except what we see on TV). Hopefully, we will learn to live peacefully as co-inhabitants of this world. I would love to someday visit your amazing country! Keep taking photos and sharing them. This is a great way for all of us to learn that our similarities far outweigh the differences.

Dear Shahram

What an amazing collection. You made us proud. Also love the title ‘’Mega Capital’’. Beautiful Mega Capital indeed. I live in London at the moment but do travel to my lovely home town Tehran twice a year. I must say your photos helped me learn more about this giant City. So much is happening out there that I wasn't aware of. I shared these photos with some colleagues of mine who know very little about Iran. They are checking it out as we speak. All are impressed and boy, so am I.

Fantastic job and as we say ‘’Damet Garm’’ Best of luck with your future projects and once again thank you for making my day. Reza

Dear Shahram,

Thanks and Well-done for your fantastic collection. Do you have any plan to show more photos of other Iran's cities and locations? I suggest collecting and uploading the pictures of different locations, cities and landscape of Iran as: North landscape and beauties (Caspian side), The Persian Gulf views (i.e. Kish, Hormooz,…), Western Iran cities and nature (4 seasons), Eastern Iran attractive scenery, Historical places and many more about Iranian culture and people. God bless you.

Be grateful for Persian Culture
What most people forget, is that the discoveries made in the ancient Persian empire influenced Western civilization more than the ancient Roman empire did. If not for the Persians, we wouldn't even have our decimal system. Keep in mind, that at it's peak, the Persian empire was larger than the Roman empire and has always been a center of civilization and progress in the world. Most of the knowledge from the ancient Greeks was preserved and improved on in the Persian empire, not the Roman empire.

more comments
Mr. Razavi, After writing my previous comment (sittign in my office)I read all other comments on this page and it brought tears to my eyes when I see how every other Iranians feel the same way I do. My heart goes for/to Iran, and my people everywhere. I have been in Canada for 4 years but I can't wait to go back to Iran and never ever leave that country again. I know all the bad things about it because I studied, worked and lived there for so long, but when I compare it to the uglyness of North America actually there is nothing ugly about my country. I respect everyones opinion, but I know from the bottom of my heart that I don't belong to anywhere but Iran.
— Sahar, March 11, 2008
I don't know how to thank you for these pictures that show how beautiful Iran is. These pics are what I use to educate my canadian co-workers who have no idea about my country and all they know is what they hear from American media. By looking at these pictures they realize that Canada is third world country not Iran. Thank you again, and I am so proud of my country.
— Sahar, March 11, 2008

Thank you so much Shahram. The Pics are wonderful. everything in that land is naturally beautiful. I left Iran few years ago, and when i went back home this year, I just realized what a fantastic country and people we have which i never knew when I was living there.

Dear Loli
Yes indeed, unfortunately you will need to cover your head with a scarf, and make sure that you do not reveal too much skin elsewhere except hands and face. A little skin above the feet is ok. You do not have to cover that much of your hair. You're welcome to see the pictures in my new album to get an idea of how women dress in Iran: http://www.worldisround.com/articles/343042/index.html

I wish you a wonderful and safe trip!

To Hossein
To Hossein Yes sir, that is certainly true! Tehran has it all! Uggliness, beauty, pollution, charm, crazy traffic, the traditional, the ultra-modern, the poor, the rich, etc, etc. And I have chosen to show the good only. But insh'Allah, with optimism, a positive attitude and a vision for a bright and better future, we can all work together to get rid of the uggliness, poverty, pollution, and perhaps even the crazy traffic, and then hopefully we will be left with a beautiful and charming city. A vision & hope is the first step!

Listening to Fereidoon Foroughi, I got a bit nostalgic as I came across this website. Now I'm more homesick. I've lived in Canada for most of my life and have never been back. Makes me wonder if this is how beautiful it is now... what it could've been and what we could've had... had we never walked backwards

I am an Indian.Been to Iran for 4 times this year due to the some company works.I really feel hurted when I hear so many bad things about Iran in the global mainstream media because I myself had been there & seen with my own eyes of what Iran is.Its not even 1% true of what they say about Iran.Iran is truly one of the most beautiful countries in the world I had ever visited. Long live Iran..!
— sachin, December 29, 2007
I'm a Pakistani born Canadian but I have Persian and Arab ancestry from both of my parents. I want to thank you for confirming what I knew all along, that Iran is a beautiful country and that most of the BS that the American media feeds us is not true. I hope to visit Iran sometime in the near future after I'm done with university for both religious reasons and as a tourist. And I have to mention that Persian women are some of the most naturally beautiful women in the world.
— Canadian, December 27, 2007
Dear Iranian
It seems incredible to me that you mentioned Cyrus the great, because I am just reading about his achievements. He was recognized as God's Prophet by Daniel. Actually, if not for Iran, The whole course of Jewish history would be different. The cultural and historical ties are much stronger than any policy of one politician or another. Having Persian culture strongly presented in the Bible (Especially Zardosht), some even assume that Abraham was Persian! Many politicians, religious leaders, officers, artists, doctors, scientist and businessmen in Israel are Persian. Even our national singer is Persian (Rita Yahan-Farouz). A few monthes ago, the Persian cuisine was elected as the best, in a national contest (which explain the fact that the people at the pictures look so healthy and slim :-) ). Iranian films are presented in the cinemas Here (I like Mohsen Makhmalbaf and especially Majid Majidi). So deep in my heart I know that someday we will be friends again. God bless you.

Can you please e-mail me. As for contributing to the skyskraper forum - I would like to if I had the time. Thank you.

Hi Shahram

Thanks very much for your beautifull collection of Tehran pictures. Please below visit the link to my collection of Tehran pictures. There are thousands of pictures over there and I have gathered them from everwhere and also some from your image collections.

That'd be great if you could join skyscrapercity (SSC) and boost my thread as well or if you could include my pictures here too and make it somehow so that it looks in the same format as that forum or however you like.

I have enjoyed looking at the photos of your beautiful city. I had the pleasure of meeting your Iranian Life Saving team at the recent Asian Pacific Championships what marvellous ambassadors for your country. Coming from Sydney, Australia I can see similarities but also enough differences that I hope my husband and I can visit.
— Roz Grey, December 9, 2007
Dear Jeff
The Iranian people harbor no hostile feelings for the American people. On the contrary, countless Americans can attest to that they were recieved with outmost hospitality, kindness, warmth and generosity while visiting Iran in recent years. Most Iranians differentiate between the issues of politics and state on one hand, and the country and people of a nation on the other. You would feel most welcome in Iran as an American visitor, and Iran is generally also very safe for foreign travelers.
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), November 22, 2007
Thank you for the pictures of Teheran. I love seeing what another city in another part of the world looks like. As an American, I'm genuinely curious about something: if I were to visit Teheran, would I have to hide the fact that I'm American if I want people to be friendly toward me? Would I be in actual physical jeopardy if I did not hide my nationality? I'm deeply concerned about my present government and its actions, but I am not ashamed to be American. I'd love to visit but I can certainly understand that anti-American sentiment (justified or not) can override international brotherhood.
— Jeff, November 18, 2007
I was impressed by the images I saw from Teheran. Lately all I hear abour Iran from the media is negative, so naturally it built up such an image in my mind (even if I'm generally an open minded person). I live in Japan and I met one Iranian person and he seemed a very nice and friendly, so I decided to have a look at what Teheran is like. Very nice! Sometimes I wish there were no religions so everybody would be friends. After all everybody wants peace and happiness, right?
— Lubo, October 21, 2007
Mr. Razavi- WoW....You have got a great collection of photos . I immensely enjoyed viewing all. Tehran appears to be beautiful. Thanks for sharing the photos. I felt joy seeing these photos. Many thanks to you Sir!!!

These pictures are really fantastic. Tehran looks a lot more modern than my hometown Philly. I travel a lot and the beauty of Tehran via these pictures has energized me sufficiently to make a trip to Iran in the near future. Hope that this becomes reality soon. I really love to visit Shiraz and Esfahan and possibly the city of Bam. Thanks again for giving the world a taste of capital Tehran. Wish Iran and all Iranian the best. Roy Arpino

I`been always interested about Iran in every existing manner, I have iranian friends, but no one ever told me about it as I just looked at it through all these pics, what a beautiful & magni ficent city Tehran is, It talks by itself, You can rest assure I`ll become your best promotor in this part of the world, we seem to have a lot in common as far as construction designes & our ci ties look very much alike, I`been in many places in the world, but somehow I`fell in love with your land, & I`ll be going there if I have to work overtime for a couple of years, and show you something about our culture and cooking that I`m sure you`ll love as well. Viva Teheran and all your country. God bless youu all. Mannie

Absolutely beautiful! I grew up in NYC, so a city with character is the most beautiful landscape to me. I've wanted to travel in the Middle East since I was a child because of how it was depicted in literature. Hopefully I'll be visiting Tehran for my honeymoon in a couple of years. Hopefully my idiot of a president doesn't do anything else stupid between now and then to prevent me from making the trip.

Reality
Dear Mr Razavi, thanks for your collection of my hometown pictures.I am studying in Malaysia at present and these people don't know any thing about our homeland just what they see on news. It's hard to show the reality...and when they see they don't beleive.. It's (((PERSIAN PUZZLE))) for everyone in the world It's story of powerful nation...those who bulit an empire in 2500 years ago...and those who became the most succesful ethnic group among all entered America in last 50 years (According to researches at MIT) and those who are the most succesful people any where in the world I am persian my land is Iran and I am proud of it...let the media show what ever they want to show... Dear Julie Hutchens
when we say Tehran means south, central, west and east...when we say Northern Tehran means the place that was called Shemiran before...most of these pictures are south and central parts of tehran, some from north .There where many projects in south Tehran ,highways, azadegan, nawab, historical places and so on.The government use Mega Tehran or Big tehran for capital. ""There is Poverty and sadness and prosperity and happiness every where in the world, depends how we look at it". Iran's GDP is 600+ Billion USD equal to Australia and GDP per Capita is around 9000 USD,although it had lots of changes after islamic revolution in 1979.Iran is the first country in terms of GDP in middleeast and 4th in terms of GDP per capita. It's not hard to find reality about my country. I love my Homeland,Payande Iran
— Khashayar, October 2, 2007
To Julie Hutchens
Dear Julie - If you visit a site that promotes New York for instance, would you see pictures of Harlem and Bronx, or would you see 5th Ave, Madison Ave, Soho, Central Park? Why in the world should I show the poverty of Southern Tehran when that is practically all that is shown by western media whenever they cover Iran?
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), October 2, 2007

Thank you for your kind comments - However, I can not take any credit for the pictures since I have not shot them. I only showcase them here for the world to see another side of Iran than the one they normally see in the media. And also for the sake of evoking hope and inspiration in Iranians around the world for a better future for Iran.

Mr
Kheili Mamnum, Mr. Razavi. for capturing majestic aesthetical views, but more so our imagination. The caption of the photo: Tehran-New York-Paris -Rome, made me reflect (as often) with Jalaluddin Rumi … Nur… The Light is One. I visited your Country many years ago… I was only after her ancient history, which is common to us all… and I was also seeking what Rumi, Ferdosi, Hafez, Khayyam and many other (eg Avicenna, or Abu Ali Sina, in your language?) had in common… Then I met the common people of rural Iran… and your country’s brilliant Past… came to me as being Present; feeling much welcomed by her warm hospitality. I copied details of her old rural architecture and of private orchards… having tea under a tree... music by Shajarian Any chance of a similar new reportage … on rural Persia...??? Best regards and God's blessings… Marino Z., Melbourne Au. 8 Sep. 2007

I left Iran 32 years ago. Our house at that time was in western most part of Tehran, Now that house is the Center of Tehran. The city has grown so much. It brings back childhood memories of going to Darband in the summer and eating lunch on the wooden platforms in the middle of the river. Great pictures, thank a lot...Keep up the good work.

I have become such a fan that I visit this site regularly for new pictures of Tehran. I have told most of my friends about your site. We totally admire your work. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of Tehran and surroundings soon. Thanks again for a very fantastic job. Pamela

Incredibly captavating
When I stumbled across this site, I said to myself, 'I've never seen Tehran before, or Iran. Matter of fact, the media has never showed any pictures or video of Iran.' It's like they try to make people envision Iran to be a sandtrap with people living in mud huts. I never believed that, and now I'm in love with Tehran. A beautiful, colorful, and industrial city on the backdrop of some of the most captivating mountains I've ever seen. It's definetley on my top 5 places I want to visit. The photos opened my mind. Thanks for the insight on how beautiful Tehran is.
— D Wynters, June 9, 2007
Helenclairea- I am happy for you and your family. Iran is a land that hosted civilisations dating back 10,000 years. She is old, dynamic and changing, religious, wants to be modern, wants to be traditional, is friendly yet passionate and at times irrational. Iran has many good features, as well as bad. I love all of the above because I keep my expectations in check, I hope you do the same and enjoy our beloved Iran. V

Visiting soon
Fantastic photos. My husand is Iranian and we have been married for twenty two years. He came to study in the UK twenty eight years ago and this will be his first trip back. As I type this he is applying for my visa in London as we plan to travel to Iran asap to visit all our relatives. I am searching the internet to gain as much knowledge as I can about the country (Tehran especially) before we visit. I am so looking forward to this and never thought it would happen but as they say dreams can come true. They will probably have to close down the airport the day we arrive due to all the relatives. Any advice or information anyone can pass on to me would be very much appreciated. The family live in the North of the City and I am a keen photographer so hopefully will be able to share some photographs of our trip with you all. Best wishes Helen and Hossein
— helenclairea, June 1, 2007
after being speechless.... incredible! this is whole new experience after all these years of being brain washed (USA mentality) with a stereotype of iran being just another desert wasteland. how badly the wool has been pulled over our eyes! for many years i've had a strange inner urge to move to a different country. recenlty, iran has been on my mind because of their stand point on what's going on in the world. now that i see some of the beauty of of the country, i definately want to investigate it further.

Amazing views, from an American girl
I am happy to have run across this website and all these wonderful pics that are on here, thank you so much for posting them. Im an American, and like most others, have only "heard" things about Iran, some things pretty unflattering. These photos to me captured Iranian everday life, not staged, just regular people and lovely scenery. Everyone looks happy and content in their pictures, and I hope that there is someone in Tehran looking at normal American life, saying the same thing I am, "they are not much different than us". The people in these pictures, while there are defined differences, Id go to say myself and many other young Americans dont differ very much from those in Tehran, and could be friends. Thanks for this lovely insight to something I knew so little of.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
I am inviting all of my american friends to visit our country Iran , we have been enjoying the privilege of living in this truely God blessed piece of paradise of US of America for decades and enjoying it ,Iam sure Iranians hospitalities in a good way can compensate part of this kindness,God bless america ,God bless Iran.

international airport
I was lucky to visit Iran as a postgraduate architecture student in 1995, as part of a team involved in assisting the architectural development of the new airport for Kayson Construction. It's great to finally see what was built of terminal 1! It looks to have the 'open space' concept we were wanting... I could write a lot about that. If you'd like to see some of the early concept ideas we put together, send me an Email. By the way, the other photos are superb also... bringing back happy memories of a fascinating and beautiful place full of friendly, intelligent people. - Gordon

Hi, I have seen here all the pictures I forgot to take in the last two weeks in Tehran and on Kish :-) Very nice, but I miss some pictures of the overboarding traffic on the highways in Tehran. And maybe someone can contribute a picture taken from an airplan aproaching Mehrabad Airport at a clear night. Sincerely

To Hahns
Thank you for your comments. About 80% of the buildings you see in these pictures are residential buildings. Noteworthy here is that an estimated 35-40% of real estate in Dubai are owned by Iranian investors, since you mentioned Dubai. I don't know what you mean with "Iranian architecture", but if you mean TRADITIONAL Iranian architecture, then this is not the album for that. That kind of architecture can be found in my "Amazing Iran" album at World is Round.

Regards,

Shahram

These are mostly pictures of office buildings. If I want to look at towers I will go to Dubai. Where are your cultural buildings or images of Iranian architecture. Few urban environments are without your office buildings.

A Refreshing antidote to the biased and negative images cooked for Iran by western media. I Left Iran in 1984 and not been back since. I'll be visiting next year with my British/American wife and my two sons. It is important that we as Iranians living abroad persevere and change the negative image given to our country. Iran is trying hard to advance and catch up against all odds and this is a testament to the character and resilience of the Iranians. Some are claiming that Iran is currently going through a renaissance and is making much progress in many fields including science and technology. It is however obvious that much needs to be done but looking at the UN Human Development Index one can see that Iran as whole is progressing year by year. So These pics of Tehran do indeed point to a more general move forward both economically and otherwise. What these pictures show is a sence of quiet confidence. Thanks Shahram

I agree with you!
I agree with you entirely, Shahram Razavi! I am sick to death of the way the world portrays Persians, especially in that movie "Not Without my Daughter!" I will definitely sign your petition and hope to see more protests!

Please sign the petition against "300"!
Please sign the petition against "300"! Please sign the petition which will be forwarded to Warner Bros. Picture Co. to protest the way Iranians (Persians) are portrayed in the film "300", based on the novel of Frank Miller. In this film Persians are portrayed as wild and barbaric subhumans, and the Persian emperor Xerxes as a bloodthirsty and crazed tyrant. The producer of this film seems to have INTENTIONALLY twisted the historical facts to benefit his political and/or racist motives. Such behaviour should not be tolerated, and we should not let him get away with it. Please sign the petition and send the link on to your friends and relatives. United we can fight our enemies and their deceit and malicious schemes against our beloved country and people. http://www.petitiononline.com/wpci96c/petition.html

As an American being fed all the dirty stories about Iran, I wish this country could see the true Iran with all its splendor. Tehran is truly a reflection of the great Persian civilization which dates back longer than the Romans. Nothing can take such history away from the Iranians.
— azlan tajuddin, February 26, 2007
Excellent photos!

I had the privilege of living in Teheran from 1964 to 1967, as the child of an American diplomat -- and I must say the city is totally unrecognizable (and so much larger!) now. This is especially true of the north with its high-rises and multi-lane boulevards -- the same area where our house was located -- the Niavaran/Sahebgharanieh section. I tried to find our house (which was large, with a two acre walled compound) by using "google earth", and was astounded by all the development there. So much so that it was impossible to find even a trace of the house. Alas, it appears that it has been sacrificed for "progress". Would love to return some day, to actually go to that very place where our house stood, because I cannot believe it is gone and will need proof!

Gone or not, one thing that does remain is the memory of that wonderful country. Ah...sleeping summer nights on a terrace under the stars at the foot of the Elburz Mountains. Simply delicious!

Dr.
As a socialscientist and artist I have both enjoyed and very much appreciated the effor of putting together this feast. Visual sociology is an important part of cultural observations. I have a very modest collection of photos of art students at work, and in international conferences scholars attack me for having chosen the 'middle classes'!!! May I have your permission to show the poloplayers, the golfer, and and the car racer to tell my audiences what the differences between my ordinary folk and the middleclasses are. I thank you.

Wonderful Pictures!
I have been to Iran on two extended trips over the last 4 years and I adore the City of Teheran. I always feel so alive when I am there and relish the people, culture, food and adventure availble there. I haven't been able to visit in over a year now and won't be able to again for another 1-3 years and these pictures help me feel a little closer to the adopted city I cherish so much. Thank you!

Blessings for Iran!
I find this website just great and wonderful. It contradicts the widespread lies in our western controlled media about the desinforamtion being spread against IRAN. It`s so important that this more open and truthful view of Iran is spread all over the world. In this this dark hour when the western media (with the help from US private bankers/secret organisations like the bilderberg group/trilateral commission) are trying to spread lies about how "undemocratic and terrible" Iran is. In this very moment we can clearly see how the U.S administration is backed up by ZIONIST CONTROLLED organistions like AIPAC and JINSA: These forces are planning and lobbying for an attack against Iran. We must spread this message and lighten up the message of peace!! The people of Iran are are related to the SUMERI people. The SUMERIS are back in town..... A kindred with great wisdom!!

Parks/Green spaces in Tehran
While once more lauding Mr. Razavi's various presentations (in pictures) to the world and in particular to us Iranians abroad, I suggest that another presentation; this time dealing with the various parks, green spaces, fountains and lakes in and around Tehran be created. amazing
You basically ruined my whole weekend. I am a network eng and I spend most of my time in front of a screen. The very last thing I need is doing that in my spare time but I enjoyed every second of it... Are you going to expand it and add other cities and sites as well ? I wish you could post more pictures from kish island... it is just wonderful... I strongly urge everyone who is planning to go to Iran that make it part of their schedule... and no... in no way it's like dubai... I also very much enjoyed how mature and civilized your responses are to your critics... if only our politicians were as tolerant and enlightened as you are, I imagine there would be far less Iranians scattered around the world.... khaste nabashi

Thank you Mr. Razavi
Compatriot Shahram Razavi and his colleagues have taken the unique step in bringing our beautiful Tehran right to us, whether we are in our beloved land or abroad, whether in our residence or in any Public Library (in the U.S.) or an Internet Cafe.To those individuals who find it difficult to fathom or value the labors of Shahram and his friends I must add that they should seek joy in some other sites. For us Iranians of all walks in life, this site is indeed a privilege. Thank you again Shahram and crew. Dorood Bar Iran o Irani! Payandeh baad mardom e bozorg o delir Iranzamin!

To Mr. Sam Wagner
Mr. Wagner - I am a firm believer of Cause and effect as well, or as you put it; "What goes around comes around" - Where we differ you and I, is about who will be at the receiving end of the "comes around" in this case. But surely the "comes around" will come - You just have to be a little alert and look at the situation in the world to understand just who will be at the receiving end - To me it's sparkling clear who that is! I deleted your post by the way because it was distasteful, offensive and political.

I have an Iranian friend who introduced me to your site. I always knew that the western media, in particular the US media ....(Edited by administrator due to nature of content)... and paint the Iranian nation with so much negative news that seems far from reality. Because of my good friend myself and my wife have read so many books about Persian culture and trust me as an non-iranian I am indeed very impress with your history and culture and you must remain proud and enthusiastic. My future plan in my life is to be able to travel to Iran and meet the great people of Iran and see the beauty of Persia with my own eyes. I have always been impressed with the Iranian community here in Atlanta and they certainly are hard working and exteremly intelligent people. Regarding your pics, I must say Congradulations and Bravo and many thanks for showing us some ideas what Tehran looks like and it appears to be a wonderful large city. Thanks -Dr. Miguel Roback

I just visited tehran this past summer after 9 year. It was the most emotional moment of my life. Just being able to see everything again was a privilege. I hope to be able to live there again one day. Until then i am planning to go visit every year.

Software Enineer
I am a US-born Iranian-American and have only been to Iran once as a kid. I've been planning to come visit Iran for a while and eventually I will. Since I a) like the country-side and forests, b) do not like air-polution and c) generally take the road less travelled, I had no intention to visit Tehran (other than flying in-and-out of Iran). These pictures have changed all this! Tehran looks amazing (and I've seen a lot of places)! Thank you for posting these pictures. Thanks to you, I am now planning to visit Tehran. I have downloaded ALL the pictures and will burn them to a CD and show them to here to friends in the US. It is almost scary (in a George Orwell kind of way) what a one-sided/distorted/derogeratory picture is painted of Iran by the US media. How can the USA call itself a free country when we don't have a free press here? Greetings to all Iranis in Iran - God bless you all!!!
— Hafez, October 14, 2006
Too far from Iran
I am almost in North pole. can you believe it?I would like to come over there and walk in the streets.Talk with my friends with my own language.Go to dawn town find a resturant and eat.As much as I can.Find some places and seat beside of streets and watch people and street . Smoke my pipe and say thank God I am in Tehran.

Just got back from Tehran
Hi there, I am married for nearly 5 years with an Iranian. My wife often wanted me to go to Tehran to visit her family and home country. We live in Germany and the only thing I see is the propaganda on western TV. Now last month we went to Tehran to get my own impressions not being judged by prejudices. Before we took off my wife showed me your homepage to prepare my expectations. Although your photos are quite amazing I must say Tehran is in natural twice as impressive. Hope to get back as soon as possible. I think everybody in the world should know the reality about Iran. It fills me with sadness that many people only believe what the media show and tell them. Chodahafez :-)
— Rolf and Yalda, September 24, 2006
This is amazing! All these pictures bring tears to my eyes! My father is Iranian but you see I grew up in America and our family just went last summer, and I miss it so much! I want to go back so bad, I wish Americans knew what a beautiful place Iran is!

Dreamy city
you have done great work and I want to thank you Tehran and our Memorial
— Hossein Ekhtiari, September 20, 2006
Dear Shahram thank you for the Fantastic photo collection. I enjoyed looking at each of them. Iran owes its progress to her children at home who survived (and continue to do so...) and have influenced the change exhibited by your pictures. I believe we all should pray for those who bravely defended this magical land of ours during its history and even more so during the recent conflicts. I personally have a love & hate (don't agree with lots of issues but so it is here in Europe and even over the pond in different shapes) relationship with Iran but it is my root and am proud. For those who can but haven't been for a long time, I'd say there is no need to be a stranger at your own home.

Changed expectations
I'm off to Iran for two week holiday on Friday, this glimpse of what Tehran is like has changed my expectations. We always think of women in head to toe black and all youngsters dressed conservatively, like the president. The reality is very different it seems, but then, that is why I'm going - to challenge my prejudices. I need to show this album to those around me who think I'm mad going for a holiday to Iran.

Have a wonderful one.

I just want to thnk you for sharing these images of our country. Wow, They took me back down memory lane. I left Iran in 1986 and have not been back since. Looking at your pictures took me on a much needed trip back to Iran, past and present.

Kheily mamnoon.
— Hamid Jam, June 23, 2006

This is wonderful....
My sincere thanks and deep gratitude to Shahram Razavi for such a wonderful effort to keep Iran's images of the past and present alive for not only the Iranians who are away from home, but for anyone who have a desire to know more about Iran and those who have the wrong impression of Iran due to misrepresentation of our beautiful country portrayed wrongly by the media outside of Iran. I have always been proud of being an Iranian and will never stop feeling the proud Iranian I am. Perhaps I have been away from home for too log now.... I think it is time to go back home..... Time to give something back to our motherland.... Time to do something positive for Iran rather than just talk about it.....

Western Views
Isn't it strange how a country and city so undoubtebly beautiful and stunning can be shown and portraid in such a bad and ugly light. I hope people can realise from the pictures Mr Razavi has provided how amazing our country is and not a terrorist and "Islamic Extremist" state. This city is gorgeous and not a single person can argue with that after seeing these fantastic pictures. I would like to give such a huge thanks to Mr Razavi who has gathered these pictures and also an even bigger thanks to those persons from the further west countries whom have taken the time out to give their opinions on the country, i know it means alot to me, and most probably to every other iranian that not all westerners have a terrible media controlled view on iran. cheers

Iran is such a beautiful country. 99% of Americans are ignorant to what Iran looks like {including myself} To bad our govrnment's can't get along. I've have yet to see anything postive ever come out of politics.
— Ted Lambert, June 8, 2006
Beautiful Tehran
I left Iran in May 1991 and I've been living in the USA since. I met my husband here. He's been living here since 1979 so he doesn't remember Tehran very well and unfortunately doesn't even care to go back. I would love to go back one day but until then I would like to thank you for giving us an idea how this beautiful capital of Iran looks today. God bless you and thanks for the pictures.

WOW....I'm lost for words, Teheran is amazing, what a beautiful place. It makes me wanne leave Holland today and visit this wonderful city. I'm in awe by the way materials and colors are used, so much beauty.

In Holland people do not know how beautiful Teheran is, I will post a link on my website to aducate my visitors.

The people of Iran are in my prayers.

Peace and Love,

Rick

Wow, Iran isn't just sand? I hate to say this but as an american I had a different picture of what Iran was like. its beautiful. I also read further down that some americans can't get in and I'm not sure why that is, I'm writing from Indiana and it loaded up just fine. Iran looks amazing and I hope to visit there as a friend and not as the enemy.

your friend for now, the devil
— The_devil, May 16, 2006

I am glad somebody is showing images that aren't for propaganda. Here is the US the only images we get from the media are of violence in the middle east countries. It's sad that so many people don't understand that no matter where you go in the world we're all people who share the same hopes and dreams.

True...

Current progressive impetus defies lethargy. Thanks God we are a very rich and resilient people, having passed the test of millenia.

I live to praise God and serve; thanking God at every breath for all gifts Iran and Iranians enjoy. I ponder over doubling of the population during the last quarter century, doubling again in the next couple of decades, increasing demands for amenities the nation must redouble efforts to meet while combating environmental and moral degradation.

TONIGHT I WAS CURIOUS TO FIND PICTURES ABOUT TEHRAN: SHOPPING CENTERS IN TEHRAN, ROADS IN TEHRAN ETC :) I FOUND THIS PAGE AND REALLY I WAS VERY IMPRESSED, BECAUSE TEHRAN SEEMS TO BE -AND I GUESS IT IS - A WONDERFULL PLACE WITH SIMILAR FACES LIKE ANY OTHER CITY OF OUR WORLD :)

I WISH ONE DAY I CAN VISIT IRAN (THE OLD PERSIA) CAUSE THEY HAVE HISTORICALLY SO MANY SIMILARITIES WITH MY COUNTRY AS WELL :)

Great Photos from Iram
My Iranian friend has forwarded me the link to these photos. I honestly have to say that I never knew and thought of Iran being this advanced and beautiful. Some day in future I like to visit Iran-Esfahan and Shiraz. Thanks,
— Paul Celani, April 9, 2006
My friend sent me this collection of photos. I enjoyed seeing them a lot and learned much about Iran from them. I also read some of the comments and enjoyed them too. My only added comment is a suggestion, and is made in the friendliest way. Delete all the repetitive and second-rate shots. Sometimes less is more. Thanks, "Duke"
— Duke van Willem, April 9, 2006
Great Job Shahram!!!
Shahram- you are the man and allow me to say that even though we have not met, but through these collection of pictures from Tehran and elsewhere, I feel that I know you well and I want to say you are a great Iranian by making others, such as this fellow Iranian happy, by posting these pictures. They are simply beautiful and I encourage you to continue adding more and more pictures and I make sure they get to be seen by my many American and Canadian friends.
— Rahim Moradi, April 6, 2006
Very nice pictures. Tehran is looking clean and certainly a wonderful city. I just hope that official from Tehran municipality could do something about the awful traffic and those that violate the rule of traffic law. Lets hope this would be done and subsequently as a result Tehran will look even more beautiful. Once again, your pictures are bring back lots of memories. God bless the county of Iran and every Iranian from all walks of life. Salute!!!
— Javad Arakian, April 6, 2006
Thanks, Shahram!
One of my best friends grew up in Bojnuurd (far north) and his wife is from Tehran. I've always wanted to go up there and spend a few weeks seeing the historic Persia, small towns, backroads. I'm not a big fan of the urban life.

But now I want to go spend time in Tehran! What a beautiful city; your photography is excellent.

I think others have said it, but I just wish we could get my fellow Americans to see your beautiful "Tehran travelogue", and many Americans would have a very different view of modern Persia, a land of incredible ancient history.

God bless you; you've done a great job. I hope to have a few hundred pictures of Tehran too, one of these days...(yes, and of the rural places, too!)
— David Zuniga, April 6, 2006

WOW!
Excellent collection of the city that never sleeps. It sure refreshes lots of wonderful memories of beautiful Tehran. Thanks for taking time to put this together. God bless.

Tehran
Dear Shahram, Thank you for a grat job, I haven't been back for 30 years, I would of loved seeing some pictures of the true Tehran, by that I mean norrow alley ways, dead end street, where my friends and I used to play soccer etc.... not so much just the cosmetic look of a city, it would be like the only part of Los Angeles worth seeing is the Beverly Hills. again Thank you .
— abby, March 16, 2006
Dear Shahram
Hi Sharam jan,

You have served your country more, with these reflections of Iran ... than many wanna be nationalists, claiming and sabotaging Irans progress in the name of democracy.

Thank you again and God bless you and your work.
— Kourosh, March 15, 2006

Dear Shahram. I cannot just thank you enough for such a favor you did to your country and your people. I just want to say this all the people in the world: " Although Adolf Hitler reigned Germany for some years, German people were not all Hitlers at that time."
— Iranian Citizen, March 14, 2006
Such a shock!
Although I'm not Iranian -we're neighbors. I'm from Caucasian Azerbaijan. I'm quite impressed with the pictures presented on the site.

The point is that I've just decided to check the level of the development in Iran before the possible invasion (I hope it will never happen) of the US troops and was shocked. Although we are neighbors I didn't realize that Iran is so much different from the picture I have created in my mind under the mass media propaganda. Why aren't you broadly advertise all the achievements of your nation? Neither me, nor rest of the Europe or America and their citizens realize the reality.

I really hope that there will not be a war in the region. It might collapse not only Iranian, but Azeri economy as well.

Rovshan
— Rovshan, March 14, 2006

I want to thank you for opening my eyes as to what our people are capable of. The photography is beautiful, and the scenery that is captured is breathtalking. After seeing these pics, I want to go back for a visit at least for sure!!!!

THANKS!!!
— Hermin, March 13, 2006

Thanks - 4 - these beautiful pics Shahram. I left iran when i was vey young & have not gone back since. These pics refelct how beautiful our country is. Keep up the good work!
— Mike, March 11, 2006
Dear Julian,

Thank you for your comments. I don't think anyone has suggested that life is about modernistic buildings though. And as for oil being so powerful and in the hands of a few, isn't that the case almost everywhere, if not always? As for "true democracy", I think the notion that there exists such a thing as "true democracy" anywhere can easily be contested, and I think it also depends very much on how one defines a "true democracy".
— Showcase IRAN (by various photographers), March 3, 2006

Really great photos and a great effort, showing a modern dynamic Iran, in terms of power true to its great heritage but in terms of true values.... Is life about modern skyscrapers and modernistic buildings and will a state in which oil is so powerful and in the hands of a few every attain a true democracy

Great pictures of Tehran. I have never been in Iran, but I´m sure one of my next journeys will go to Iran and of course to Tehran.
— Martina Koether, February 23, 2006
Bravo !
Thanks for such beautiful photos. It surely make justice to your country that is usually badly represented in the west. I refused to take a job in Iran lately, thinking it was too strict and backward country, still living in the 14th century. ...you have surely changed my mind. Thank you

WOW, nothing short of amazing, away from Iran for many years, many of the places were just unrecognizeable. I am glad that we can surly show the world it is just our will and from Pasar Gard to modern we know it and we are the one who introduceded it to the the world. Thank you. P.S. Could you please if it is possible post some pictures from old Tehran, like Tehran University or Amirieh, if it is possible of course. Again Thank you for your superb job.

Thanx, Great pics, So now stupid people can see Iran is not such a terrible place and we who grew up in iran are not idiets as they might think.

Wonderful, Just wonderful. we havebeen made believe here in america that iran is nothing but a prehistoric country. How deceiving has our media and politicians been. I will consider Iran as a place for my next vacation. great work. Nothing but our ghettos should be shown on the net as to how america is. A very prejudice country.

Just wanted to thank you for the pics. I wanted to see what Iran really looked like - not what journalists here in America show us. They make a lot of other countries look like third world countries. It was really cool seeing the inside of homes, shopping malls, and even ski resorts. Good job showing what Iran is really like.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people say that Iran is a huge desert. At least you have shown some snow to convince them. I think we should have a website titled "IranHasWinterToo.com" or "IranIsNotAnArabNation.com". ooooh.

My joy of watching those photos....
I must admit Mr. Shahram Razavi that your photos brought back 27 years of ambiguity as to how my beautiful county would look alike today. There is only one constructive comment I would like to make and that is for me to make a slide show on my desk top, I would have to save each picture individually. I am wondering if some one out there who could teach me better ways to make these wonderful pictures as a slide show by sending email to: pj_farivar2000@yahoo.com. All-and-all, I could only say; THANK YOU for doing this from bottom of my heart. At last: AY KHAKEH MOGHADASS KEH BOVAD NOMEH TO IRAN; FOSED BOVAD ON KHOON KEH BE PAYEH TO NARIZAD. Dont know how to start. Brilliant job u done here. Alteast now we can show the whole world that this is where all Iranian blong to not what they see on TV.
— Nima, December 2, 2005
An outstanding job! Truly the best on the web. Well done, Mr. Razavi!

I would like to suggest two steps that would make the site even better: 1) If you add numbers to each photo to appear next to it, the viewers can provide information on those that have none at present. Likewise, the viewers can offer corrections as well. For example, I saw a couple of photos from Isfahan in there that should presumably be removed from a site dedicated to Teheran alone, and placed in another file treating Isfahan. 2) Please add the identifying title of each photo to it so that when one downloads a few of them, they identify themselves instead of just a serial number.

Once again, you have done an outstanding job. My complements.

Dear Mr. Razavi, The pictures, and the site, are superb and I would like to thank you very much for bringing so many good memories of Tehran/Iran.

I grew up in 200 Dastegah, near Shahre Ziba and attended Bahman High School there.

I also saw the build up of the "AZADI" stadium in early 1970s and in fact we used to ride our bikes to the building site with my friends and play Football in the empty fields thereby.

Later on a very small Grass Football field in a new stadium was built near the Flood dams by 200 Dastegeha.

If anyone has any photos of these much beloved places than I would love to hear from them.

Otherwise I will commission a photgrapher to create a series of the same.

Sadly I left Tehran in Novemebr of 1972 to study for my first degree and ever since have been too busy with life, family and work to come back.

Dariush, LA, California. IRAN will be great AGAIN..........

My family left Iran 25 years ago. I was 10 years old. I've not thought much about Iran in the last 15 years. I have to admit the view of the Alburz mountains gave me the chills and brought tears to my eyes. It was the view from our living room and Kitchen and as a youngster I often stared at the mountains for hours. I had forgotten that. Thanks for bringing back a very positive childhood memory! I got on your site easily from Los Angeles, CA. Be well!

The world is round indeed. Political borders keep us unenlightened. I performed a search on what I thought would be two unlikely concepts -"Tehran" and "skyline". Man, was I surprised! The architecture in your city is phenomenal! There's even a Metro! I will never look at Iran the way it is portrayed in the U.S. media. Thank you for sharing your photographs and your city.
— Wesley West, May 24, 2005
I visited Tehran for the first in the late 90's and it was nothing like this, but even then it was a beautiful city, when I was going to Iran from Pakistan my first thought was why would any one go there, when I crossed the border I thought "I cant believe this country border's places like Pakistan and Afghanistan", the transformation I got to see just crossing over was remarkable, I never ever imagined Iran to be so well developed, and what beautiful looking people.

I can not believe my eyes. I left Iran 25 years ago. I expected to see pictures of poverty and people sufering. But looking at the lifestyle they are living in paradise even nicer than when I left 25 years ago. The buildings are incredible and people skying look like they belong in paris I thought that such pleasures ended after the shah left. Truly incredible. I cant wait to go there to see it with my eyes.
— Henry, May 18, 2005
Thank you
Thank you for posting these pictures. I am an Iranian studing in Europe and people here are so ignorant, they belive we live with our donkeys and are a poor country. Not knowing Iran is a paradise when it comes to nature, buildings and skyline.

Thanks

hello! i would first like to thank Shahram Razavi and worldisround for producing such a great site, but could you prehaps maybe add some pictures of shahrak, for instance the park in shahrak-e-gharb and the bazaarche golestan and iran zamin. the reason is because i spent my childhood in that area, i am 16 now and left Iran when i was seven and i have hardly any pictures of the area and no way of getting them, i want to see how much it has changed and developed and whether it has changed as fast as everything else seems to have done. i would extremely appreciate it if you could make this possible.
— Tate Maghdadi, April 10, 2005
thank you!
I have searched long and hard for a website which would have images of the city i growed up in and lived the best years of my life in. This website shows me and the rest of the world how tehran is beyond comparison and beyond words. It shows its beauty and puts it in a category of its very own. Shahram Razavi has shown Tehran in a way no other person could, the lifestyle, the culture and most of all its ability to be most probably the single most breathtaking city on gods earth. I have searched countless amounts of websites to find something half as good as this and found nothing which could even be compared to it. i want to take the time to thank you on behalf of the millions of patriotic iranians around the globe which now have a source which they can go to and share the unbelievably magnificent sites of their homeland with there peers. thank you shahram razavi and thank you worldisround for this fantastic page.
— kourosh Tamjdi, April 10, 2005
wow! There is no other site which can show tehran's true beauty like you have done here. This website has really shown the rest of the world how outstanding and breathtaking our country is. God bless you for providing a website where I could show my friends and colleagues how our country is trully one of the most magnificent places on the face of the earth. Thank you.

You have done what many of us were dreaming once. A place where people can see good parts of our country..foreigners show awkward side of it enough in their media in such an unfair manner. On my part, I sincerely thank you for this remarkable effort and wish you all the best in all your activities.

An amazing passage through what I once knew. I saw many pictures of places that I used to go to on a regular basis. Good to know despite all the change, the core of the country has stayed the same. Kudos to Mr. Razavi for a materful job that is beyond any doubt an effort of love and dedication to the essence of this nation. Iran will always be Iran regardless of govermental controls.

Beautiful Pictures
Dear Mr. Razavi, I would like to say that the pictures of your country show images of a majestic and historical beauty that sadly is not shown enough to the outside world. I hope to someday visit your country and experience with my own two eyes the culture and beauty that surrounds your nation. I was born in the USA of South American parents, and they have always taught me to be humble and to always have an open mind, be it differences in religion, politics, etc. I believe that everyone should be proud of their heritage and to always keep an open mind. I hope that we may all one day treasure the beauty and differences in all of us.
— Nelson Saenz Jr, March 19, 2005

Very nice, every person must have an identity, without an identity we are nobody....Iran is our identity and I am proud of it. As long as we live in north America with black hair we will be look upon as not one of them, therefore why try to be something that we are not and why not love what we are and that is our country. After 25 years I went back to vist Tehran and walking down the side walk of Tehran looking at every body with black hair and hearing them speak the same language my parents thought me brought tears to my eyes. for the first time after sooooo many years I did not feel like an emigrant, I felt part of the puzzel. Sure there are problems in our city, but one must not forget the beauty of our city too. Treat Iran like a marriage, it has it up-points and it's down-points, it is a two way street. Tehran can not magically delete it's problems, we all need to go there for a visit and help contribute.
— Pirouz, March 10, 2005
From US
A picture might be worth a thousand words, but you have taken words that we have tried to explain to others here and turned them into pictures. We are not the backward, 3rd world country they make us out to be. I am glad that I can share these pictures to show that we are not like the countries that surround us, not in culture, not in climate, not in character and certinely not in our rich history. Thank you for showing us something positive considering the near past. Azadi tower is not just a building to me. Thank you.

Tears of joy...
Dear Shahram

What can I say! I am stunned!!! As I looked through these photos, tears of joy rolled down my face the pictures are truly stunning and I had no idea so much was happening in Iran. I left Iran when I was 8 years old and I do try to go every couple of years. I am 35 years old and I have not seen Iran for 10 years. After looking at these pictures, I have decided to take all my friends for a holiday tourism must pick up in this wonderful country as we have so much to offer; amazing history, jaw-dropping architecture, and the nicest, kindest, generous people on the planet!! - Iranians are known for their hospitality around the world! Thank you so much for reminding me that I come from a truly beautiful country and I am proud to hold my head up high and say that I am an Iranian - ! Best wishes to you Nooshin
— Nooshin Cyrus, March 2, 2005

Thanks. Photos were really beautiful. But I would add some photos from southern part of Tehran and also poeple who are living there. The more traditional poeple and their way of life and dressing... I think they are part of Tehran too... Aren't they? That's a very good idea if you can add some photos of this side. Thank you again.

THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL SITE!
Thank you for your beautiful site! As a US born Iranian, who has never been "home" (and always been curious), well not for 32 years (since my 1st birthday), it was amazing to see a view of Iran other than the images from the media and even Iranian cinema (from the films I've seen anyway). I hope to see these sites in person one day. I can't quite imagine how that might be. Thank you so much!
— Mahyar, March 1, 2005
I can only say "ditto" to all the wonderful comments below! Marvelous photos, I loved them all! Many changes since I was last there, in 1976!! I live in Scottsdale, AZ, USA, very interested in having Americans & others, know more about Iran and its wonderful people!!

My objective with the Tehran page
In response to the comments of Javaher and Vafa: If an artist decides to make a painting portraying only flowers then why should he necessarily have to include stones in it? Yes, it's true that both flowers and stones are part of nature, but that doesn't mean that the artist has to include both in his painting. It's the objective of the artist which determines what will end up on the canvas. My intention and objective with the creation of this page was to show the progressive, modern and prosperous Tehran - The one we never see in the media outside of Iran, and in this pursue I have knowingly excluded some of the other elements which are part of Tehran's vast landscape. If you want to see the Bazaar and similar things, then you're welcome to visit my other album "Amazing Iran" http://www.worldisround.com/articles/73022/index.html

Political comments will be deleted. Thank you for your feedback and for visiting my page.

CORRECTION
HELLO

I LIKE TO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THESE BEAUTIFULL PICTURES SO PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF IRAN COULD SEE AND REALLY SEE THE REALITY OF WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON INSIDE OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY, I GO BACK EVERY YEAR AND I HAVE BEEN LEAVING IN THE USA FOR THE PAST 28 YEARS BECAUSE I LOVE IRAN SO MUCH, FOR THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE NEGATIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THESE PICTURES THAT THEY SAY SHOW THE TRUE PART OF IRAN, THIS IS THE TRUE PART OF IRAN WHICH ANY OTHER COUNTRY WOULD DO. DO YOU THINK IF THEY WANTED TO SHOW YOU PICTURES OF USA THEY WOULD GO TO TAKE PICTURES OF HARLEM OR GA OR THOUSAND OF OTHER PLACES THAT THEY HAVE POVERTY, THEY SURELY DONT, SO WHY SHOULD WE.THIS IS A GOOD MESSAGE TO THE WORLD. AND I WILL SENT YOU ALL OF MY PICTURES TO SHARE I HAVE MANY. THANKS TAKE CARE
— FARSHID, February 17, 2005

I also like to second Javaher. While the pictures are very nice and you have done a lot of work, the Tehran portrayed in these pictures is only 20% of the reality of what Tehran is. There is more to Tehran than upscale building and shopping malls of northern part of it, there is not even one picture of Tehran's bazar, which is by far the top landmark of Tehran.
— Vafa, February 17, 2005
These are very beautiful photos indeed but perhaps you could have shown a different side of Tehran, one that does not only include expensive high rises and the upper class neighborhoods. It would make for a more honest portrayal of our wonderful city. I enjoyed the viewing of these images nonetheless.
— Javaher, February 17, 2005
These are very beautiful photographs, and I am enjoying them very much. I visited Iran last summer with my sweetheart and had a wonderful time. I was treated very well by the Iranian people. We were invited into the homes of many people we met and had the most amazing conversations. Although my family was a little frightened at the prospect of my trip, they have also found a new appreciation and respect for the Iran and her people after hearing my stories and seeing the photos I brought back. I'll definitely visit again, though I think we will go in the spring next time. It was very hot and for me as a woman adding clothing layers in the summertime is not something I found very comfortable! It was a bonding experience to commiserate with the local women on that requirement though! Thank you again.

Dear Shahram, We are residing in the UK for almost 2 years for studying and having seen your perfect pictures we got more and more homesick. Here, all British people think that we are very strange and are of very low culture and history but now we can prove that we are the best generation in the world by showing your superb, excellent and fantastic pictures. Well done and many thanks

For the first time someone has taken time to create a totaly awsome collection of quality photos, bringing this butiful city up close and home. After 25 years, Now more than ever I want to visit Tehran.
— Arman Hedayat, February 12, 2005
What can I say, these pictures are awesome. I have not been to Iran for over 30 years and these pictures made me weep! Is it possible to download the pictures to have as a photo album? Or can I purchase photo CD from you? Thank you so much for making them available for us to see. God bless.
— Amir Sabet, February 12, 2005
I want to thank you for providing these beautiful pictures for all to enjoy. I have never been to Iran and most of what is shown by the media is related to war or some other negative aspect(s). I appreciate these pictures because they allow me to see how beautiful Iran is. Now the desire in me to see Iran and more of my culture is stronger than ever before. Thanks again.
— Sarah Masoom, February 11, 2005
Facinating pictures
I think they were all facinating pictures of the "haves", what about the other polarized part. My comment should not be taken as a critice of the artist, but perhaps a realty check. I think It would make sense that you be inclusive about life in Iran.
— Saeed Hashemi, February 10, 2005
Just wonderful
I came back from Iran to Canada 10 days ago.I was talking to one our coworkers about the beauty of Iran.I searched for Tehran's pictures and fortunately I found your great site.It is awesome. She really liked the pictures.Good job.

Great pics
I can't describe how I feel when I look at these pictures. I have been out of IRAN 33 years and I am in my 50's. Have not been able to go back and visit. But these pictures really motivated me to hopefully travel there this summer. This is where I wanted to be when I was growing up and I was in search of in my childhood and that is why I came to US. I wish IRAN was the way it looks 35 years ago maybe I would have stayed there. Thank you soooo much again for the pics. They make me homesick.
— Brian, February 8, 2005
Thank you so much for this beautiful work of art, it is just amazing. For all of us who have not been in Iran for many years, it seems like a different country, again thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Many thanks for this wonderful collection of pics every one of which sat deep in my aching heart; but what about the Teheran I left some forty years ago? Tragically not a single photo of the birthplace I remember and long for.

WoW!!! What a beautiful work done! I feel like I went back for a trip! I went back to Tehran in early 90's after fourteen year and lived there for six years. You brought back a lot of memories. Thank you!

I am married to an Iranian man, and I have had the wonderful opportunity to visit Iran 6 times. I had a wonderful time, and these photos are inspiring me to visit more places to better learn the history, culture and language of Iran. It is truly a wonderful country with a magnificent history. Iran has become a part of my life.

I have grown to love and admire Persian culture as a result of dating an Iranian-Canadian and being so warmly received by his family. Nonetheless, my visual perception of Iran was formulated by North American media images, images that at times I've found hard to relate to what I've learned about the country. Thank you for these beautiful photos, as they are so reflective of what I've come to love about Persian culture and the amazing Persian people.

Thanks for your tireless efforts. It is very constructive to expose portion of realities in our homeland, which regretfully always has been a subject of censorship by corporate America controlled media. What I have seen during last 20 years that I am residing in America, a deliberate attempt by media to portray Iran and Tehran as a crumbling, out dated and uncivilized land with nothing to offer and it is centuries behind the history. This site could be very eye opening for misinformed Americans about the spirit and intelligence of the Iranians as a nation, regardless of their corrupt governments, then and now.

Hi Shahram. Thank you so much for posting such amazing photos of our home country on the Web. I am currently residing in Australia and my causin sent me the link, great things travel fast on the Web! Tehran looks amazing, I was there 6 years ago and it has changed so much since then. I'm going back at the end of this year, it's great to get a 'preview'. Thanks again and please keep taking photos, they are invaluable.
— Mitra Shahverdi, February 1, 2005
I love your pictures, the nerve of some people who dare to call our beautifal homeland a third world country! I am a 16 year old high school student in America and it makes me sad to see that many of my fellow teenage countrymen don't have the same love for our beautiful country, for even with the current political turmoil there is still so much more to love and honor about Iran. When someone asks me where i am from i hold my head up high when i say that i am Iranian and proud of it!

Great job, Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures. What a great idea. I can imagine how much time and energy you have spent putting this together but it is worth it. I miss home and I am looking forward to going back again. Iran is a beautiful country and thanks to you for all these beautiful pictures.

Great thanks!
Going through those pictures reminded me the beautiful memories. Thank you for this great feeling you brought up to me. As all of us know, other peoples don't have true view of Iran because of the media. I sent this link to my friends who like to know Iran and received interesting feed backs how they thought before. As a suggestion, please add more picts from nature, old buildings, Art, historical and cultural places.

A feast to the eyes
Nice pictures indeed... I got the link to this site through one of my Iranian friends. I have come across so many persian friends since my University days in India...and then in North America. I have had a chance to see the aerial view of Tehran(in night) while flying back and forth from India. Now I got a chance to look at the pictures of modern Iran. Thanks.

Pride and love for the homeland are what comes to mind, after viewing these beautiful pictures. For this large collection of Photos are remedies for people unfamiliar with Iran. Now that the gathering clouds of war are looming over the homeland again, please share these pictures with all those you can reach. A picture will tell a thousand words. nader

A very stunning collection of photos that gives a glimpse of our country to some degree. You can probably add some industrial and high tech photos over time to this beautiful collection to make it more complete. We should share these photos with non-Iranians as well since their perception of Iran is usually very far from the truth. I applaud you for a very nice job! And thanks for sharing them with us.

OH, how a good feeling when looking at these pics boy... I really belong to it... as Wigen once said: Be khoda hitch koja tehroon nemisheh...Precious effort you made to build this pages... cheers
— Daryoush, January 24, 2005
incredible!
I've only been away from Iran for 6 years and it's amazing to see our country's progress. I have often gotten into conversations wth my American and Filipino friends about Iran. It's always a chalenge to change the perception of the world towards Iran, since the media haven't done us any justice. Most people see us as an arab country, living in caves, riding our donkeys and camels to our destinations. I'm so grateful to you for sharing these wonderful pictures of the city and country that I love. I look forward to visiting Iran next spring. Good luck and more power to you.

I left Iran 29 years ago. In my last trip to Iran, 2 years ago, I visited many places like places that you have shared your album with us. I was impressed with new high-rise buildings and constructions. When I came back to U.S., I shared my pictures with some Iranian friends. Pictures were very interesting to them too. However, I didn't see teenage girls cover themselves like these everywhere in the city except in nice neighborhoods, north of Tehran.

Overall, you did very good job and thank you for sharing with us. I know that it was time consuming to provide this collection.

A quote from Living to tell the tale by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Nostalgia, like always, wipes away bad memories and magnifies the good ones will justify the good feeling I have experienced while going through these pictures. Tehran was a beautiful city as a whole, and I hope one day it will be as beautiful again.

Your pictures are a hope for the future and I really loved every one of them.

Thank you;

Absolutely beautiful, I left Tehran 27 years ago, I am impressed and proud to have born in Tehran, these pictures what an advanced country Iran has turned out. I really did not know of all the improvements, perhaps I don't remember. It is true, you always underestimate your own town, you have to see it as an outsider to appreciate it sometimes. Thanks for all the pictures.

Twenty five years ago, I left Tehran. I had hope to return to my country some times soon. I see the extreme progress. It is wonderful. It is beautiful. I wish the human rights in Iran was as nice as these pictures. I enjoyed so much to look at them, but they broke my heart because I can not see them soon. I can not tolerate to be a second class citizen because I am a woman. I was Chairing a department at Tehran University. They started hiring uneducated people to run the university and trying to force CHADOR for women. I couldn't handle. I couln't fight. I left with my two little kids since their future was unknown. I love Iran, I love my country. I wish we can bring the freedom back one day, before my last day. Thank you so much for sharing these photos. I will share them with my children who are grown up and highly educated like most Iranian youngters who were raised in US. Love to you and to all my country men and women.
