After the revolution 1979, women in Iran were obliged by law to cover their head and to wear clothes that would hide the contours of the female body. In the first decade and a half these rules were strictly adhered to. After the election of Iran's reformist former president Khatami, social restrictions and dress code rules were gradually eased. Today many women use makeup, show much of their hair, wear high heels and clothes that reveal their body contours. Who knows? Maybe the compulsory head scarf will be pushed further and further back until it soon will fall off alltogether...
