Tehran's architecture is a melting pot of different architectural styles. Following the revolution in 1979, there were few regulations in place to control construction and the erecton of thousands of new buildings. The result is a somewhat chaotic urban landscape, featuring a sharp contrast of different architectural styles side by side.
