During the second world war, the the Trans-Iranian Railway was essential as a transportation means used by the allied forces to supply the Eastern Front against Germany. The railway is 1394 kilometers (865 miles) long, and passes through some extremley rough mountanaious terrain. </div></nolayer></noembed>
