Tim Potter started shooting under the wings of a pro-photog named Ed Marintette in the early '70s at Kinawa Middle School in Okemos, Michigan. He went on to shoot for the Public Relations dept. at Ferris State College (Mich) during his freshman year and then studied photojournalism at Michigan State Univ. in the early 80's. He also managed a Japanese-owned stock photography agency (that specialized in panoramic photograph) in the early 90's where he had the opportunity to review hundreds of portfolios and recruit many new photographers, like Jerry Uelsmann and Chuck Shotwell.
