We Will be Raising the Storage Limits Soon

September 19, 2006
The Storage Limits Will Be Raised Soon
Our current storage limits (50MB for Free users and 100+MB for Premium users) are definitely too restrictive and we will be raising them soon.
Switching from 'Storage' to 'Photos'
The old storage limits are based on total storage used by personal photos. For example, 100MB storage could mean that you have 1,000 photos that take up 100KB each or you could have 100 photos that take up 1MB each. This has led to some confusion and unfortunately penalizes users for uploading large photos.

To fix this, the new storage limits will be a much simpler photo count limit. Instead of 50MB of storage, Free users are going to be able to upload up to 500 photos of any size. (This is a 140% increase, based on the average storage size a Worldisround photo.)

The Beta Storage Limits Program
You can get the new storage limits now by becoming a beta tester — just e-mail us at and ask to beta test the new storage limits. Most users who have exceeded their storage limit will be beneath the new storage limits and will be free to upload a lot more photos.

Be warned, though, that this is a "beta" feature. The new storage limits are currently under development so bugs might occur and you might get conflicting messages about your storage usage/limits.

Also, in exchange for getting the new storage limits now we would like to get some feedback from you about Worldisround and our storage limits. We are particularly interested in feedback about pricing, limits and feature requests for Premium accounts.

Travel Photos are Still Unlimited
As always, these limits only apply to personal photos. You can still publish as many travel photos as you like. We might even reward users who post a lot of travel articles with additional personal storage.
